Why you want to get your home organized before the holidays
It’s not just about being able to invite your family over for Thanksgiving. Or your friends for Friendsgiving. ✤ It’s not just about having space in your refrigerator for a turkey and stuffing and sweet potato souffle and 28 other random (but absolutely necessary) side dishes. Or having kitchen cupboards that you aren’t ashamed for people to open when they’re looking for a bowl. Or having drawers that you aren’t embarrassed for people to rummage through when they’re looking for a potato peeler. ✤ It’s not just about having a kitchen that has everything you need. And nothing you don’t. It’s not just about getting rid of gadgets you never use or expired pasta you’ll never eat or travel coffee mugs with lids that don’t even seal. ✤ It’s not just about having the space in your dining room to put the extra leaves in the table so everyone can eat Thanksgiving dinner together. And it’s not just about being able to actually use your dining room table for gatherings of people instead of paper.
It’s not just about having space in your living room to set up and decorate a Christmas tree. Or not having to fight with your vacuum, your suitcases, and 42 rolls of toilet paper just to get your tree stand and ornaments out of the closet. ✤ It’s not just about being able to have your friends over to hang out. Spontaneously. Whenever you want. Or being able to do that without scurrying around, gathering up stuff in the living room to throw on your bed, and pulling the bedroom door shut. ✤ It’s not just about having a coat closet with room for everyone's jackets. Or having a bathroom that you aren’t embarrassed for people to use. ✤ It’s not just about getting your home decluttered so you’re not drowning in your stuff. And it's not just about getting your home organized so you’re not always looking for things. ✤ It’s not just about making your mornings easier. Or your closets prettier. Or your dining room table and the island in your kitchen emptier. ✤ It’s not just about being able to feel calm, clear-headed, and in control when you leave the house in the morning. Or being able to exhale and drop your shoulders when you walk through the door at the end of the day. It’s not just about sitting in your living room and feeling happy. ✤ Home organizing isn’t just about any of that. It’s about all of that. ✤ ✤ ✤
If you’re looking around your house right now and you’re like, “How do I get that?” Because “I don’t know where to start and I don’t know what to do and I need someone to tell me exactly what I need to do, in tiny chunks and baby steps.” I’ve got you. Check this out. 👇🏼 I’m hosting a new email newsletter series called “30 Days to Ready: The Thanksgiving Edition”. You are invited to join. And so are your friends. We’re going to be sorting out the main “hosting” areas of our home–the kitchen, the living room, and the entryway. Clearing the clutter. Organizing all of the things. One task, one day, at a time. And we’re kicking this off on October 28. 💌 Every day, I’ll send you one email with a task to complete. The Monday to Friday tasks will be smaller. The weekend tasks will be larger. 📽️ And because the weekend tasks are larger, I’ll be available LIVE on YouTube for a few hours on Saturday mornings for some home organizing sprints. It’s a bit like what would happen if I came to your home over Zoom, but I was also at all of your neighbors houses too and we were having a group therapy fitness decluttering and organizing session. Because I don’t want you to just read the emails. I want you to do them. So that your home is all ready for whatever you want to happen inside of it this holiday season. And beyond.
